Live Different

LIVE DIFFERENT Manifesto

Add to My Profile | More Videos

It's a video made by my friend, affectionately known as Matty Morgs.
He's the one in the blue and red stripes. Live Different is the 20-somethings group at his church (outside of Toronto).

P.S.
I know, I said I wouldn't post anymore, but this just seemed worthy enough to break my promise.

The End

So my hair has almost no pink at all in it now. I've decided to not spend the money to re-dye it (even if Alex says he'll do it for me). Overall, I loved having pink hair and I'm so glad I got to do it. I wish I had done it before school got out for Christmas break though, oh well.

-good bye-

Xmas Camp

So at Christmas Camp, Northland's highschool retreat in Georgia, it was amazing that so many people came up to me saying that my hair was very "me", and that a roughly equal amount of people said that it was very unlike me to do.

I believe I feel a bit less constrained with my hair (which I now don't think about too often, unless I am online and blogging). At the New Year's Eve party at Christmas Camp, I went in the circle for the dance off and actually won! Haha, everyone came up and said "where did that come from?!" afterwards. I'm not sure if I just feel freer with my hair, or if I just would have done that anyway. Either way, I got a $15 gift certificate to iTunes for winning -yay for learning some breakdance moves in 2nd grade when I took a jazz class.

Merry Belated Xmas!

Merry Christmas Ya'll! (the picture is of my sister -who is in 7th grade- and I)

For your information, my grandparents' eyesight has gotten so bad that neither of them could notice there was pink in my hair... it's kind of sad but at the same time, a bit comical.

Pink of a Different Color

My hair has now faded from a bright neon pink to a
bubblegum pink. My mom prefers it over the original
shade, so she's a bit happier with me now.
She said that I might not have to dye it back for
college visits, which would save me $100+, woohoo.
Maybe with my saved money I could buy the pair of
boots I've been eyeing at work.

I think I will add a bit of curl and sparkles in it
for Christmas Eve service tomorrow (I'm going to
both Northland and Summit because I attend 2 churches
regularly, like any other crazy person would).

Even though it's faded into a "nice pink", when I
was at Steak N Shake today with my mom, the waitress
stopped in the middle of getting our shakes to touch
my hair and exclaim over how differeit it was, haha.

P.S.
Everyone should go to Ten Thousand Villages on
Park Ave in Winter Park, it's a really cool store.
Only Fair trade products (saris, hammocks, jewlery, potter, art,
rugs, etc)are sold there.

Merry Christmas!

Prejudice

At Lee's birthday party this past Saturday night, Javan asked me what has been the most interesting thing about having pink highlights. I thought about it for a moment and had to tell him that confronting my own pre-concieved notions and stereotypes about people with "odd" hair has been eye opening. I never realized how negatively I thought about not-so-proper looking people until I feared what other kids would think of me with my hair. When I hung out with my ultra-abercrombie and fitch friend yesterday, I almost blurted out that I wasn't going "punk" or anything, haha. If that doesn't prove how much a I connect unnatural hair color with people on the edge of the social sphere, I don't know what does.
I guess I have always found people who are radical (another assumption) enough to dye their hair to be very intimidating because of what I think they know (which would be more than me).
I find a lot of identity in my hair, does anyone else?
